NASCAR Sebring

Earlier this year HSR announced that they were bringing a select groupof vintage NASCAR Stock cars over to the Le Mans 24 Hour Historic race at the Circuit De La Sarthe.  Any invite to run at Le Mans is a special, but old Winston Cup cars in France? Count me in. This also felt like the perfect opportunity to get the Mark Martin #6 back into fighting shape. After a lengthy submission process the Folgers Car was selected and is due to be shipped over for the big race in July.While I've owned the car since 2021 I've only run it a handful of times. To be properly competitive in a historic it needed some help. I enlisted the help of my favorite IMSA team Performance Tech Motorsports and Nemco Motorsports...owned by none other than 1992 Busch Cup Champion Joe Nemechek. As much as I loved the car in its "period correct" trim, it was wildly inadequate for any sort of modern road Racing event. it didn't turn, it wasn't fast and it certainly didn't stop. The car did compete in period at the 1989/1990 Sonoma and Watkins Glen nascar cup races, but the braking tech left quite a bit to be desired, I guess Mark Martin was better at managing awful brakes. We've just come back from our 3rd Sebring event with the car and...to put it lightly it's a monster. Modern cup car brakes, full AIM data, a fresh G-Force 4 speed, quicker steering and some setup laps from Joe Nemechek himself. (See Chris's onboard lap in the attached link). A few more upgrades and hopefully one more test and she'll be on the boat heading across the pond. I for one am looking forward to soaking in the magic that is Le Mans, and of course trying to crack 200mph on the Mulsanne. my last trip there was in a beetle and I'm thinking this may be a little more exciting.
